📰 Vijayanand Travels Places Historic Order for 150 Volvo 9600 Sleeper Coaches

Bengaluru, 4 September 2026: In a major development for India’s private intercity bus industry, Vijayanand Travels Private Limited (VTPL) has placed an order for 150 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches, marking the largest single order placed by a private bus operator with Volvo Buses.

 The landmark order was formally commemorated with a handover ceremony in Bengaluru, further strengthening the decades-long association between Vijayanand Travels and Volvo Buses.

The massive investment is aimed at expanding VTPL’s premium intercity network across South, West and Central India, while further raising the benchmark for passenger safety, comfort and reliability.

A significant highlight of the new order is that around 70–80 coaches are expected to be equipped with onboard washrooms, purpose-built for VTPL’s long-distance routes—further enhancing passenger convenience on journeys where comfort matters most.

Speaking at the occasion, Shiva Sankeshwar, Managing Director, Vijayanand Travels Private Limited, highlighted the company’s long-standing relationship with Volvo and its vision to strengthen the fleet while expanding into new states.

B Srinivas, MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles, also described the order as a testament to the trust built between the two companies over decades and highlighted the Volvo 9600 as a benchmark in intercity luxury.

With 150 Volvo 9600 sleeper coaches set to join its fleet, Vijayanand Travels is poised to take premium bus travel in India to an entirely new scale.
